Reading FC protest group Sell Before We Dai has released details for their new protest plans, including going to Dai Yongge’s home in London.
Since forming in the summer, the group has increased pressure on Dai Yongge to sell Reading Football Club by helping fans engage in several protests and gain national media attention and support.
The group has now outlined details for upcoming protests in home matches against Charlton Athletic and Port Vale as well as a trip to the capital.
In Reading’s home game with Charlton on Saturday, February 10, SBWD have titled the day’s protest ‘Get That Clown Out Of Our Town’.
A statement from SBWD reads: “Dai Yongge has turned the club into a circus, so let’s make him the chief clown.
“We’ll supply the Dai masks and a limited number of clown wigs.”
They are also planning a ‘Show Dai The Red Card’ during the team’s rearranged fixture with Port Vale on Tuesday, February 20.
Their original game with Port Vale was abandoned after thousands of fans stormed the pitch.
A statement from SBWD continued: “Don’t worry Vale fans, no pitch invasion this time. We’ll invite both sets of fans to join us as we hold a red card display on the 16th minute.
“We will be giving out cards to all supporters on matchday, it’s a protest Port Vale fans have done before… and the colour red is said to ward off evil spirits in China.”
They have also set a provisional date of Sunday, February 25 to protest in London.
“The London protest is on. More details on locations and routes will be published in due course, but we are already planning and have been in contact with the police in preparation.
“Sunday, February 25 is the provisional date, as we’d like to protest in the capital as quickly as possible, whilst also ensuring we’re giving ourselves enough time to plan properly.
“We understand fans want protests that everyone, no matter how young or old, can get involved with.
“These protests are designed to be effective, embarrassing and inclusive – aimed exclusively at the regime, not the team.
“As ever, we back Ruben, the players and the staff. We want to rally behind the team as we fight to remain in League One.
“Pressure will remain on Dai at the SCL, but we will continue to drive our wider activity forward too. We will continue with our political activity and EFL dialogue.
“Every lever will be pulled to make a difference.”
