The re3 Partnership, a waste partnership of Bracknell Forest, Reading borough and Wokingham borough councils has teamed up with Anglo Doorstep Collections for its first joint project to support communities during the festive season.
As part of the project, residents are encouraged to donate good-quality toys through Anglo’s free doorstep collection service available to all residents.
Suitable toys will be shared with charities, including, Reading Family Aid, First Days children’s charity and Share Wokingham, helping families in our area and beyond to enjoy a brighter Christmas.
Every year, thousands of toys end up being thrown away, even though many are still in great condition. By donating, residents not only help reduce waste but also bring joy to children who might otherwise go without.
Cllr Karen Rowland, chair of the joint waste disposal board and Reading borough council’s lead councillor for Environmental Services and Community Safety; Cllr Helen Purnell, vice-chair of the joint waste disposal board and Bracknell Forest council’s cabinet member for the environment, community and housing; and Cllr Katrin Harding, Wokingham borough council’s executive member for environment and climate emergency, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to make a really positive difference, and this appeal is about more than recycling – it’s about community. Donated toys will help families in Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham enjoy a brighter Christmas, as well as others who need support.
“By giving toys a second life, residents are reducing waste and spreading joy right here at home.”
To donate, residents need to book a free collection with Anglo Doorstep Collections, www.anglodoorstepcollections.co.uk/re3partnership and ensure toys are clean, complete, and in good working order.
The service is free and is open to everyone across three boroughs. This service is not part of the regular waste and recycling or bulky waste collection. While the doorstep service offers added convenience, residents who already donate regularly to local charities are encouraged to continue doing so.
