FRIED chicken restaurant Popeyes marked the opening of its new location at Reading Gateway retail park last week.

At 11am on Friday, August 8, the restaurant brought the spirit of New Orleans with a ribbon cutting ceremony and exclusive merch giveaways to mark the second Popeyes restaurant in Reading.

Some customers had queued from as early as 6am, including Andrew, who said: “I first tried Popeyes in Cardiff which is where I go to Uni.

“I have been craving Popeyes since being away from Uni for summer, so I knew I had to be one of the first in line when I heard of the new one opening in Reading”

With both dine-in and takeaway options available, now even more fried chicken fans in Reading can get favourites like the chicken sandwich, hot wings, tenders, and signature chicken wraps.

It also sees the return of hot honey chicken sandwich, hot honey saucin’ wings, and the hot honey box meal, which are joined by an all new hot honey saucin’ boneless.

Tom Crowley, Popeyes UK CEO, said: “Our first Reading restaurant was met with an incredible response when we opened in 2023, and it’s been brilliant to see as much enthusiasm for our newest restaurant.

“We’re proud to bring our famous New Orleans fried chicken to another part of town and we can’t wait to welcome even more local fans through our doors.”

Popeyes is now open at Reading Gateway Shopping Centre, Gateway Proctor End South.
