Jack Marriott’s purple patch continued as he found the net once again to help Reading rescue a home point against Mansfield Town in League One.
The Royals went behind early on, but the impressive duo of Matt Ritchie and Marriott combined once again to spare Reading from falling to a home defeat.
Ritchie has made a bright start to his Royals career since joining the club from Portsmouth at the end of August and looks destined to force his way into the starting eleven as he builds his match fitness.
Meanwhile, Marriott has now scored in all five of his starts for the club. He got off the mark against Swindon in the EFL Trophy and has since netted against Barnsley, Leyton Orient, Stockport and now Mansfield.
His scoring form has helped the Royals to pick up some form and go on a run of three games without a defeat.
However, Reading do still remain just one point above the drop zone having picked up just 10 points from their opening 10 league matches.
Reading will host MK Dons in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday and are due to make an away trip to Exeter City next weekend which may be postponed if either side has enough players called up on international duty.
