AS AN animal charity celebrates its 200th anniversary, it has launched not one but 60 different fundraising campaigns.
The RSPCA protects animals across England and Wales and, while it is one big charity, it has regional branches. And it is these that are appealing for funds to help their regional works.
Among the fundraisers is the Reading with Oxon Border branch, which says its donations will help fund donations will fund neutering programs, education campaigns, and outreach efforts in the area.
Neighbouring Oxfordshire is teaming up with a rescue centre to rent some of their kennel space, but it will cost around £16,000 for the year.
The dogs will have luxury kennels, training and behavioural plans, and walks by staff that understand rescue dogs. Many of these dogs will then go into foster homes before they are found a permanent loving family.
There are also four national Crowdfunders which have been launched by the RSPCA which aim to raise funds for several RSPCA projects.
Prizes include a chance to win a tour of Coronation Street’s set, a signed Charlie Mackesy print, and tickets to see Wicked & help the RSPCA Pet Food Bank project
Dermot Murphy, RSPCA Inspectorate Commissioner said: “For almost two centuries, the RSPCA has been changing minds, laws, industries and lives to create a better world for animals and people alike. We have come a long way in 200 years but there is still so much more to do.
“Animals are now facing bigger challenges than ever as a result of factory farming, climate change, war and a cost of living crisis. In our 200th year, we want to inspire one million people to join our movement to improve animals’ lives.
“We are incredibly proud of our network of branches across England and Wales and their dedication to animal welfare in their communities. We hope this campaign and their fundraisers will ensure they can continue to help more animals across their regions.”
