A study has revealed that Ascot as the number one racecourse in the United Kingdom and Ireland, beating the likes of Cheltenham and Aintree.

The study, which was carried out by bookmaker BoyleSports, placed Ascot at the top of the list of 85 racecourses across the UK and Ireland.

Ascot received a score of 77.97 which gave it the highest mark of any racecourse, a significantly higher score than any other course that was ranked.

The scoring system was based on: average google review, big races, guinness cost, public transport score and popularity by google searches which contributed to the overall score.

Ascot’s busiest week of the racing calendar starts today (Tuesday) with the five-day Royal Ascot race meeting.

Leopardstown, home of the popular Dublin Racing Festival, followed in second with a score of 66.44, the best of the Irish racecourses.
