Thames Valley Police has launched an appeal for witnesses after a man in his twenties suffered serious injuries in an assault in Reading.

The incident happened at around 3:45am on Sunday, 23 November, when several people were attacked by a group of men on Simmonds Street.

One victim sustained grievous bodily harm (GBH)-level injuries and required hospital treatment, where he remains.

Detective Sergeant Malcolm Miller, who is leading the investigation, urged anyone who may have seen the incident or has relevant footage to come forward.

“I am appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this incident, has information or has CCTV footage that may help us, to please get in touch,” he said.

Officers are also seeking information about three vehicles reportedly seen leaving the area: a dark-coloured Volvo XC40, a light-coloured Ford Fiesta, and a light-coloured Audi saloon.
