FOLLOWING a year of uncertainty, Year 11 pupils at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading are celebrating “fantastic” GCSE results.
Now, they will move onto a range of post-16 courses.

Andrew Johnson, headteacher at the Crescent Road school, said the results are a testament to his students’ “hard work and perseverance” over the past five years.
“Students have been determined not to allow the pandemic to knock them off course and we are so proud of their attitude and sheer hard work which has led to such great results,” said.
This year, pupils at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading were awarded their grades through teacher assessments.

Mr Johnson has also thanked teachers for their “professionalism, integrity and extraordinary hard work” during this process.
“On behalf of the school, the staff team, the local governors and the Maiden Erlegh Trust, I extend my congratulations and best wishes to this successful group of young people,” he said. “Go on and take on the world.”
