A LONDON man has been jailed for a string of violent and sexual offences in Reading.
Jahmel Flemming, aged 28 and of Eldon Park, London, was sentenced to thirteen and a half years in prison at a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, September 30.
He was found guilty of three counts of actual bodily harm, two counts of rape, and a count each of assault, sexual assault, and sexual assault by penetration.
He pleaded guilty to a further count of common assault, and was found not guilty of a further count of intentional strangulation.
It comes after On 13 December 2024, Flemming subjected the victim, a woman, to a relentless series of serious physical assaults, both in public and in private.
This included repeated punches and pulling of her hair, which left the victim with a cheekbone fracture, facial and bodily bruising, and severe swelling.
He then sexually assaulted and raped the victim while continuing to use physical violence against her.
He was arrested on the same day, and charged on the following day; further charges were made by postal requisition on January 28.
Investigating officer, Detective constable Becky Edey said: “Jahmel Flemming is a violent individual whose actions are inexcusable. His prolonged and vicious assault showed no regard for the victim, leaving her with significant injuries.
“Thanks to the victim’s courage, Flemming has now been held accountable and will no longer pose a threat to others.
“I would like to take this opportunity to commend the incredible bravery shown by the victim in this case–her strength has not only led to justice being served but has also helped prevent further harm to others, and we are truly grateful.
“I hope this outcome provides her with some closure and allows her to begin moving forward with her life.”
She explained: “This case demonstrates Thames Valley Police’s commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, including all forms of sexual violence and abuse.
“I hope this conviction and lengthy custodial sentence sends a clear message that we take every possible action to safeguard victims and bring offenders to justice.
“I would encourage any victims of assault or abuse to contact Thames Valley Police, knowing they will be treated with compassion and respect, and that we will do everything within our power to hold those responsible to account.
