A craft and haberdashery shop is closing down with one last hurrah.
After more than 25 years serving Reading’s fabric needs, Fabric Land announced that Saturday, March 26, would be its final day of business.
The store made the announcement and thanked the customers who had supported them for 25 years with a sign posted in its front window.
Jelly, a creative arts charity, is throwing a celebration day in honour of the store.
Customers and fans are invited to celebrate the store’s long history and say farewell at the store on Cheapside, from 2pm-4pm.
The gathering will feature a live performance by the Reading All Steel Pan Orchestra.
Fabric Land has placed a 20% reduction on all items until it closes.
Matt Hulse, an associate artist at Jelly, posted to social media inviting attendees to don costumes and work they’ve created with fabric Land supplies.
He also plans to focus on the shop as part of an upcoming documentary film.
Though the Reading branch is closing, customers will still be able to order fabric and other haberdashery online.
The Reading branch was one of just five Fabric Land stores in the UK, with the next nearest in Kingston.
The celebrations will be held outside the store on Cheapside on Saturday, March 26, from 2pm-4pm.
