QUEEN Anne’s School in Caversham is joining schools around the country in celebrating as GCSE students collect their results.
The school reports that one in four grades awarded was a Grade 9, the highest achievable, and more than two-thirds where Grade 7 or higher.
The school has hailed the results as some of the best in the school’s history, marking a return to pre-pandemic levels.
In English, 100% of grades awarded were pass grades, and more than half (55%) were Grade 7 or higher, while more than 70% of students received Grade 7 or higher in Mathematics.
In Physical Education, 85% of students received Grades 7 or higher while more than a third gained Grade 9s.
Director of Sport Laura Cox said: “A special mention must go to Mrs Jade Evans, an outstanding PE teacher, and the girls who worked exceptionally hard throughout the course.”
The school gave a commendation to Eleanor Biles, who received 10 GCSE’s after having been awarded a Grade 9 in Maths back in November.
She has subsequently been awarded a Grade 9 in Further Maths, as well as good results in History, Computer Science, and Music.
She will now continue onto Sixth Form at the school.
Another was Milly Spellman, who celebrated with her whole family after being awarded five Grade 9s, and all of her grades were Grade 7 or higher.
She was joined by her parents and sister Erin.
