A chain American burger restaurant has been confirmed to be opening at a riverside destination in Reading town centre.

Five Guys has been at the top level of The Oracle in 2013.

But earlier this year, plans emerged for the American burger chain to take over a unit at The Oracle Riverside.

The unit was vacated by All Bar One, which closed in May.

Five Guys achieved planning approval for the conversion of the cocktail bar into a restaurant and takeaway in July.

Now hoardings have appeared around the unit stating that it is ‘coming soon’ and job positions are available.

The new Five Guys will have a capacity for 170 people, incorporating a ground floor and a basement area.

At the ground level, there will be 66 indoor seats and 18 outdoor seats.

Initially, planning documents by the Blacksheep design company named Five Guys as its client.

Although reference to the burger chain was later redacted, its name could still be found using a ‘Control-F’ search.

It is not clear whether Five Guys will retain its restaurant at the upper level of The Oracle, or its occupation of the former All Bar One unit is a relocation, clearing the way for another operator to take over its current space.

The website Completely Retail has the existing Five Guys unit coloured in grey.

Five Guys is also due to open a drive-thru restaurant at the Showcase Cinema car park in Winnersh in the near future.

The site of the upcoming restaurant has been sealed off for months, with foundation works on the building starting recently.

The new Five Guys at Winnersh was approved by neighbouring Wokingham Borough Council last year.
