READING Borough Council is inviting landlords in Reading to attend an invitational evening later this month,
On Wednesday, October 29, the council’s Rent Guarantee Scheme is hosting a landlord informational evening in partnership with the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA).
Guests will have the opportunity to speak to a range of teams from the council and hear about how it works in partnership with the private sector to provide homes for Reading residents, and the incentives available to landlords who sign up for the Rent Guarantee Scheme.
Special guest speakers include NRLA Regional Engagement Executive James Gladwin who will be speaking about the upcoming Renter’s Rights Bill and the future of the private rented sector.
There will also be a session on the issue of how to prevent and tackle damp and mould, led by Michael Prior from Safeguard Europe.
Matt Yeo, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Housing, will open the event and said: “The Council has worked closely with Reading landlords for many years.
“We’re working on our own programme of building affordable new homes for residents, but just as important is taking a leading role in ensuring that there are not only opportunities for residents in the private rental sector, but that we help drive standards up in this area to provide the high quality housing that everyone deserves.
“Our Landlord Information Evening is a great way to ensure those with properties to rent in Reading can learn about our Rent Guarantee Scheme and the benefits it offers, as well as all the valuable help and support that our other Council teams can offer to help them manage their properties better for tenants, so that everyone wins.
“We look forward to meeting as many landlords as possible on October 29.”
The Landlord Information Evening takes place at the Civic Offices in Bridge Street from 6pm on Wednesday, October 29.
