OAKFORD Social Club is set to continue its series of Closer to Home gigs next week as part of the program’s residency this summer.

Next Thursday, August 21, will see session musician supergroup Rubberband Girl headlining, led by Maidenhead’s Caitlyn Scarlett.

They’ll be joined by Oxford’s Blue Bayou, combining chamber pop and ballads laced with strings and trumpets, and Shock Horror, who bring math-rock influences.

Closer to Home brings hand-picked local musicians to venues in the area with the mission that seeing great live music shouldn’t mean a trip to London.

It is headed up by Alex West who, in addition to years’ worth of experience with BBC Introducing, works as a manager and consultant in Wokingham’s Turntable Media.

Closer to Home will also return in September with MUNBOI, Sophie’s House, and Alex Blyth.
