BROAD STREET Mall has announced that this year’s Poppy Appeal has raised £15,000, thanks to the generosity of shoppers, volunteers, and the wider Reading community.
In the lead-up to Remembrance Sunday, the centre once again welcomed the Royal British Legion, and throughout the month of November dedicated volunteers were stationed in the mall offering poppies and merchandise, and raising vital funds.
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal provides essential support to members of the Armed Forces community, including financial assistance, mobility support, housing guidance, employment services, and mental health provision.
Every donation helps ensure that serving personnel, veterans, and their families receive the help they need.
This year, Broad Street Mall also contributed a wreath to the Remembrance ceremony in Reading.
The centre was deeply honoured to be presented with a special certificate recognising 40 years of partnership between Broad Street Mall and the Royal British Legion–a milestone that reflects the centre’s longstanding commitment to supporting this important cause.
Steven Connolly, Centre Manager at Broad Street Mall, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the community for coming together once again to support such an important cause.
“The generosity shown this year has been remarkable, and we want to thank everyone who donated, volunteered, or took a moment to reflect with us.
“The Poppy Appeal means a great deal to so many, and we are honoured to play our part in supporting the Royal British Legion’s vital work.”
Broad Street Mall has also extended a heartfelt thank-you to the Royal British Legion, its volunteers, and the many shoppers whose contributions made this year’s appeal such a success.
