THIS Christmas, Broad Street Mall truly embodied the spirit of giving, going above and beyond to support the community through a series of heartfelt initiatives.

To mark Christmas Jumper Day, the entire Broad Street Mall team came together to raise funds for Save the Children.

All proceeds from the day were donated to the charity, with the Broad Street Mall team contributing additional funds.

Save the Children works tirelessly to ensure every child’s right to survive, learn, and be protected, both in the UK and around the world.

Community generosity continued through the efforts of team member Billy, who independently collected funds from colleagues to purchase Christmas gifts for children on the children’s ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

This thoughtful gesture, funded entirely by staff donations, brought festive cheer to young patients and highlighted the kindness of the Broad Street Mall team.

Broad Street Mall also proudly hosted local charity Launchpad during the festive season, supporting the charity through a festive tombola that raised a generous sum to help people experiencing homelessness in Reading.

Many of the prizes were donated by supportive local businesses, including Reading Biscuit Factory.

Additionally, Broad Street Mall hosted Santa’s Grotto throughout the festive period, providing families with an affordable and magical Santa experience.

Local choirs, including Reading Male Voice Choir and Silver Tones Choir, also performed on Saturdays in the lead-up to Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere for shoppers.

These collective efforts reflect Broad Street Mall’s ongoing commitment to the local community, reinforcing its role not just as a shopping destination, but as a true community hub that actively supports those in need.

Steven Connolly, Centre Manager at Broad Street Mall says: “We’re incredibly proud of the work carried out over the Christmas period to give back to our local community.

“From our dedicated team to our generous visitors and local partners, everyone played a part in making a real difference, and that’s what Broad Street Mall is all about.”
