A section of Reading FC fans showed their frustration prior to the Huddersfield defeat regarding the situation at the club.

A banner unveiled in the Club 1871 section in the South Stand read: ‘No desire. No drive. No direction.’

The fans’ frustration has been typified this season after several problems at the club both on and off the pitch.

Reading have been hit with consequences this season, which started with a transfer embargo and eventually led to a six point deduction after they broke the English Football :League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Recent results have seen manager Veljko Paunovic come under immense pressure with his team fighting at the wrong end of the table in the midst of a relegation battle.

They currently sit just one place and three points outside of the drop zone in the Championship, while 22nd placed Peterborough have two games in hand to play.

Reading’s dreadful run of form has seen them go eight games without a win in the league, while they have not won a match at home since October.

After being knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Kidderminster Harriers, that was followed by a 7-0 thumping at home to Fulham to condemn the Royals to a miserable week.

Reading have now conceded more goals at home (31) than any other side in the Championship and have the joint worst defensive record in the league (51 conceded).

It is not only the management that Reading fans are concerned with, but also the leadership higher up the club at board level.

Fans have voiced their concerns at how owner Dai Yongge is running the club and believe that the club lacks direction in their approach for an improved future.
