Stabbing: man in serious condition following early hours attack

A MAN who was stabbed in an early-morning attack in Whitley is currently in a serious condition.

Thames Valley Police was called to the junction of Brayford Road and Lulworth Road at 3.50am today (Sunday, November 7).

A member of the public found the victim with stab wounds and called the emergency services.

The man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital, where he remains at this time.

A 33-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He is currently in police custody.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Maggie Bruce of Reading CID, said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation into a man who has been stabbed.

“I would appeal to anyone or saw or heard anything in the vicinity of Brayford Road and Lulworth Road last night or in the early hours of today, to contact the police.

“If anyone has any footage, whether dashcam, doorbell camera, CCTV or mobile phone, from the area then also please come forward.”

The added: “You can contact Thames Valley Police on our website or call 101, quoting investigation reference number 43210502930.

“Alternatively, you can contact the charity, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“I want to reassure the public that this incident is not being linked to the tragic murder of Reece Heffernan in Romany Lane, in the town on Sunday, October 31.”
