Reading FC owner Rob Couhig claimed that their transfer window plan has the potential to be ‘spectacular’.
The Royals are able to operate without restrictions this summer for the first time in several years having been under transfer embargoes when Dai Yongge was in charge.
Now under the ownership of Couhig, Reading fans are looking forward to a much more positive future.
So far the club has tied down both Lewis Wing and Joel Pereira to contract extensions, with more expected in the coming weeks.
Fans will also be expecting some new faces to come through the door in the next two months before the summer transfer window closes.
Speaking on The Tilehurst End podcast, Couhig said: “We have a plan. It will certainly be a good one, well executed, with potential of being spectacular.
“This thing (the transfer window) goes on until September 1st. There’s always an initial signing or two, then there’s a lull.
“Then a few days before the closing bell everyone starts to jump around. We’re going to try and avoid that by going at it systematically. I hope we will have some things to tell you pretty soon.”
Couhig also discussed Wing, who was the first player to put pen to paper since the takeover was completed.
He said: “Lewis (Wing) is a guy I knew at Wycombe. He’s the only player I’ve ever given advice to, I said ‘shoot more’. When he’s got the ball at the end of his feet, he’s spectacular. “He’s grown as a man. He’s not just super talented, but others on the team watch him, he’s got a great work ethic and applies himself. He didn’t miss a minute of last season, you know how hard that is?
“I am absolutely excited, I think you will have a very good glimpse of what this club is going to be like over the next two or three weeks.”
