Reading FC fans favourite Yakou Meite will be available on a free transfer this summer having been released by Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds were relegated from the Championship last season having finished bottom of the table and will play in League One alongside the Royals in the 2025/26 campaign.
Meite had a two-year spell with Cardiff City in the Championship, but struggled to find his best form and netted just five league goals in 75 appearances.
Meite became a much loved player in Berkshire throughout his six seasons with Reading and scored 47 times in 165 appearances for the club, including double figures in three consecutive Championship seasons.
He departed the Royals in 2023 to join Cardiff on a free but struggled to find form during his two year stint in Wales.
Meite still has a close personal relationship with many members of the Reading team and was seen at pitchside following the final whistle after the Royals’ final match of the season on Saturday against Barnsley.
