Reading FC goalscoring legend Jimmy Quinn says he is looking forward to sharing his memories of his time at the club with fans in a special Q&A event at the Purple Turtle.

Quinn will look back at his time as a player and manager during his five years at the club on Sunday June 22, with the event starting at 5.30pm.

A Q&A with Quinn will be followed by audience questions and a chance for Reading fans to meet the prolific striker who made more than 200 appearances and scored 94 goals for the club – and led the side out as joint manager in a Wembley play-off final 30 years ago.

The former Reading and Northern Ireland striker spent five years at Elm Park between 1992 and 1997 – including three as manager.

He scored 23 goals in his first season at Reading, adding 40 in the 1993-94 season to help his side win the Division 2 title.

The Royals were flying high in the following season in what is now the Championship when manager Mark McGhee departed for Leicester City, leaving Quinn and Mick Gooding to take over the reins as joint player managers.

Reading finished second behind champions Middlesbrough, but league restructuring meant they missed out on automatic promotion and had to settle for a play-off final at Wembley against Bolton Wanderers for a chance to play in the Premiership.

Leading 2-0, Reading lost out as Stuart Lovell missed a penalty and Bolton came back to win 4-3 after extra-time, with Quinn scoring one of the Royals’ goals.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Reading and reminiscing about my time at the club with the fans,” he said.

“It was fantastic to be part of the team that won the title in 1994 and then went so close to going straight up into the Premiership the following season.

“I’m proud to have scored as many goals as I did at Reading and to have led the team out at Wembley as manager.”

Quinn added: “It was heartbreaking to miss out on promotion in the way we did, but I’m looking forward to taking the fans down memory lane.

“t was an eventful time for me as a player and manager at Reading – and it will be great to share my memories with the fans.”

Tickets are still available for the Q&A event with Jimmy Quinn at the Purple Turtle on Sunday June 22. Doors open at 4.30pm, with the Q&A starting at 5.30pm. For tickets, send a WhatsApp message to 07842 627548.
