The Purple Turtle was packed out on Sunday evening for a Q&A with Reading FC legend Steve Coppell.

The former Reading manager guided the club into the Premier League for the first time in 2006, as his team won the Championship title with a record 106 points.

With former 1871 Podcast host Mark Roach asking the questions, Coppell began the Q&A by looking back on his playing career with Tranmere Rovers, Manchester United and England.

He then answered questions about his days as a manager, including his record breaking season at Reading and the club’s first Premier League campaign, which saw the side finish eighth.

Coppell talked about the importance of Sir John Madejski, Brian McDermott, his assistant manager Wally Downes, kit man Ron Grant and a number of key players who were part of Reading’s success during his time as manager.

Sunday’s event was the latest in a series of Q&As at the Purple Turtle, following on from a similar event in February with Glen Little, Nicky Shorey and Leroy Lita, who were all part of Reading’s record breaking 2005-06 season.

The next event in the series is a Q&A with legendary former Reading striker and manager Jimmy Quinn at the Purple Turtle on Sunday, June 22, kicking off at 5.30pm.

Tickets, priced at £12.50, are available by sending a WhatsApp message to 07842 627548.
