Reading FC midfielder Charlie Savage is one of several first-team players at the club who is attracting transfer attention from Championship teams.

With the Royals in need to raise cash this month due to ongoing financial issues under Dai Yongge, it is likely that some first-team players will depart during the January transfer window.

Players such as Tyler Bindon, Lewis Wing, Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs have been linked with moves away with the club facing a fight to hold on to some of their most important operators.

Savage is now reportedly a transfer target for some Championship teams including Stoke City, Norwich City and Derby County.

Charlie, son of former footballer Robbie Savage, was signed by Reading last summer as he joined on a free transfer from Manchester United.

The midfielder made 45 appearances in all competitions during his first campaign at the club under Ruben Selles and scored five times.

His importance to the team has continued to grow this season and he has put in some excellent performances which has seen him become subject to transfer speculation.

He has made 27 appearances this season and has scored six times, including some spectacular strikes.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who has won two senior international caps for Wales, has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract with Reading.
