Reading FC picked up a point on their travels as a late goal from Harvey Knibbs rescued a point at Stevenage.
It looked as if it would be another miserable trip on the road for the Royals who were 1-0 down for much of the game before Knibbs popped up with an 82nd minute equaliser.
The result puts Reading in 9th spot after 14 matches on 23 points heading into the latest international break.
In Sam Smith’s absence, Ruben Selles opted to start no recognised striker which saw Harvey Knibbs selected as the most central forward.
There was a return to the matchday squad for defender Jeriel Dorsett after a couple of months out with injury.
With their dismal away form still weighing heavy, the Royals again went behind on the road when Dan Kemp was on hand at the back post to dispatch past Joel Pereira to put the hosts ahead just before the half hour stage.
Reading looked to respond quickly with an attack spearheaded by Lewis Wing who found Charlie Savage in the box, despite being at a tight angle he managed to get his shot away which was deflected behind for a corner.
That was enough for the home team to go into the break with a one goal lead.
Selles made a half-time switch which saw left-back Andre Garcia, who had struggled against a physical Stevenage side, replaced by Dorsett.
Reading started to find some energy and poise in attack in the early stages of the second-half as Stevenage’s goalkeeper was forced into a few saves.
Having started without a natural striker, Selles decided to bring on Jayden Wareham with a little over half an hour to play as the boss reshaped his attack with Knibbs drifting over to the left-wing and Wareham taking up the centre forward role.
After a frustrating half with plenty of stoppages, Reading finally found a reward when Chem Campbell delivered the ball across the box to find Knibbs who lashed the ball into the net to level with less than 10 minutes left.
Knibbs had another late chance to snatch a win but fired just over the target as the points were shared.
Reading are at home to Newport County in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night before they pause for the third international break of the season.
