The Supporters Trust at Reading have received an update regarding the sale of Reading Football Club from Nigel Howe.
Reading’s takeover process has been ongoing for several months and Howe admitted that it has been a ‘slower process than originally hoped.’
STAR requested a meeting with Howe, who is in charge of overseeing the sale of the club, to discuss the progress of the takeover.
A statement released by STAR says: “Mr Dai remains determined to sell and we can confirm multiple parties remain interested in the club – talks are progressing although it has been a slower process than originally hoped.
“We pushed Nigel to explain why it is a longer than anticipated sale timeline.
“This appears to be due to the ownership complexity of the various companies that make up the football club, along with the higher-than-average running costs for a L1 side due to Bearwood and a larger than average L1 stadium.
“We are expecting funds soon to cover June’s HMRC and salaries.
“We understand fans want further detail and more tangible progress, but the club and Nigel can’t provide details due to various NDA restrictions.
“What we can promise is to continue to push for updates. Even if the update is ‘no update’, we will provide one.”
