A READING town centre restaurant is branching out by welcoming musicians to perform while people dine.
The Coconut Tree on Kings Road says its new policy will give talented creatives from across the greater Reading area a chance to have their moment in the spotlight.
The lineup launched on Thursday, February 8, with Frazer Lepford, Amazon Music’s ‘Number 1’ Breakthrough Artist of 2021, and heard on BBC Sounds.
The performances will run on Thursdays and Sundays across this month.
Its full menu, of Sri Lankan-inspired cuisine and cocotails, will be available while the music flows.
The company says it strives to give everyone a taste of warm, familial hospitality that Sri Lanka is known for, and offers an authentic, affordable menu, with vegetarian and vegan friendly options.
Rashintha Rodrigo, head of ops and The Coconut Tree co-founder, said the team were proud to launch this new showcase.
“Artistry is the bedrock of many cultures – just as we are proud to share our Sri Lankan heritage
through food and hospitality at The Coconut Tree, we are also thrilled to shine a spotlight on our local roots here by supporting these emerging musicians,” he continued.
“We encourage our community to come along and share in our support, enjoy a good meal and good time together while experiencing a great show.”
