THERE is still time to see an exhibition that explores the relationship between words and smells.
Humos, in Church Road, Caversham, is welcoming visitors to its current showcase, Fragrant Words.
It uses mixed-media, including smells, to explore how scent is used in English literature, with displays dedicated to authors such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte, William Shakespeare, John Keats, and Virginia Woolf.
Displays feature scents curated by Humos’ head perfumer E. Gabriel De Carvalho and aim to replicate and embody works of literature, both classic and contemporary.
Mr De Carvalho said: “I have delved into the pages of classic English literature, extracting and interpreting the olfactory elements that weave through the narratives.
“The resulting fragrances provide a new medium to experience these stories.”
The exhibition runs until Sunday, December 10, and is open from noon-5pm Thursdays-Saturdays, and from noon-3pm on Sundays.
