Social Media whizz? Reading Family Aid is seeking a volunteer to help spread the word about their Toys and Teens appeal to encourage people to donate toys and money to help put smiles on children’s faces this Christmas.

Volunteers will help raise the profile of the appeal by spreading the word via social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn. You will be creating posts to let people know about the appeal, how they can help and the difference it makes.

Volunteers will need to be competent in making Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn posts. You will need excellent written and spoken English.

The time commitment is flexible but just a few minutes a day can help in raising awareness and contribute towards helping to put smiles on faces of the many, many disadvantaged families in Reading.

Reading Families’ Forum (RFF) provides a voice for families of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities. They are looking for Trustees to join their experienced Board.

They are looking for individuals who are passionate about ensuring that families of disabled children and young people have a say in the services that they use. Trustees have the opportunity to get involved in a range of work, for example helping with our Information and Fun Days and meeting with service managers.

Every Wednesday, the Whitley Wood over 50’s Club provides a hot meal, activities and opportunities to socialise for older people in the local area. They are seeking volunteers to join their small committed team.

Volunteers will be helping with a range of tasks, including, setting up and putting away tables and chairs and the start and end of the sessions. Welcoming and chatting with the club’s members as they arrive. Helping out with the serving of lunch, tea, coffee and snacks. Supporting members to get involved with weekly activities.

There is the potential for the role to be split between a number of volunteers, one helping with just the set-up and tidying with another helping with club activities. Your help will ensure that our vital club can continue to thrive.

Take a look at our Reading Volunteer Connect platform for details of these and many more opportunities to volunteer via our website, www.rgneeds.me. Want to get in touch? Drop us an email at volunteering@rva.org.uk or call 0118 937 2273.
